Many customers are naturally interested in the safety aspects of skydiving. It is common knowledge that skydivers are equipped with a back-up parachute that they can use in case there is any problem with the main parachute. This is no different when tandem skydiving. What's more, safety is at a much higher level on a tandem parachute!

Safety comes first and tandem skydiving is designed to be as safe as possible. The instructors you will be jumping with are highly qualified and have thousands of jumps under their belt. Equipment, including parachutes, is regularly checked and kept in the best possible condition, ensuring maximum safety during the jump.

But you may be wondering how exactly this system works and what role the pilot of the parachute (tandem pilot) plays in it and what role the electronic safety system that each parachute is equipped with plays. In the following text we will provide you with answers to these questions. So, no fear of jumping!

Perhaps the first thing on everyone's mind is what happens if the parachute doesn't open?

Imagine the moment when you're preparing to jump out of an airplane, your heart pounding in your chest and excitement mixed with a little nervousness. In these moments, your mind can be filled with doubts and "what if" scenarios. But don't worry, your adventure is secured by, among other things, state-of-the-art safety systems that ensure your tandem jump is not only exciting, but above all, safe.

First, your tandem pilot is an experienced professional who has made thousands of successful jumps. He is equipped not only with skills and experience, but also with the highest level of commitment to ensure your safety and his from start to finish. If this very rare scenario does occur, we assure you that you probably won't even notice.

Yes, you could argue that what if.... What if the reserve chute can't open or doesn't open for whatever reason due to the pilot? What then? Then the electro-pneumatic rescue system kicks in, which is an automatic system that activates the reserve or backup parachute.

It's an advanced guardian of your safety that automatically activates a backup parachute should the need arise.

The Cybernetic Parachute Release System is an automatic reserve parachute activator used in skydiving in general, including tandem skydiving. This system is designed to increase the safety of parachutists by automatically releasing the reserve parachute if the main parachute has not been activated at a safe altitude or if the parachutist is falling too fast and approaching the ground.

The function of the system is based on the detection of the height and speed of the fall. The system constantly monitors the height and speed of the falling parachutist during the jump. If the system detects that the parachutist has reached a critical altitude without opening the main parachute, or if the rate of fall is too high and is approaching the critical altitude, the system automatically activates a cutting mechanism to release the reserve parachute.

The system is designed to act as a last-resort safety net should a chain of errors occur during a jump, whether by human failure or technical problems with the equipment. The system is extremely reliable and its use contributes significantly to the overall safety of skydiving, including tandem jumps.

Choosing and using a modern and well-maintained safety system, along with following safety protocols and guidelines, plays a key role in minimizing the risks associated with skydiving and ensuring a safe experience for all participants.

A LITTLE STATISTIC...

Did you know that parachuting in all its forms is an extremely safe sport?

We approach it with the utmost care and attention to safety, so you can safely embark on this adrenaline-filled pastime.

Parachuting accident statistics vary by country and season, but in general parachuting is considered a relatively very safe sport as long as all safety precautions are followed and regular equipment checks are carried out. According to the U.S. Parachuting Association (USPA), there were 11 fatalities in approximately 2.8 million jumps in the U.S. in 2020, resulting in a fatality rate of approximately 0.39 fatalities per 100,000 jumps.

Further, according to information available from the U.S. Parachuting Association (USPA) and other organizations that monitor safety in skydiving, fatalities in tandem jumps are very rare. For example, the USPA reports that, on average, less than 1 fatality is recorded per 500,000 tandem jumps in the United States. This means that the rate of fatal accidents is much lower than for individual jumps.

In addition, it is imperative to point out that most of the accidents listed above were preventable by following proper procedures, careful training and equipment maintenance.  The key to minimizing this risk is to select a reputable skydiving center with qualified and experienced instructors who follow all safety protocols and are equipped with modern and well-maintained equipment.
